Segmental Chambers

RAPID CONSTRUCTION UNDERGROUND CHAMBERS

Segmental Valve Chambers are precast concrete rapid construction underground chambers. It serves as an efficient alternative to cast in situ chambers, which are tedious and expensive to build. Segmental Valve Chambers are commonly used for air valve chambers, scour valve chambers, isolation valve chambers and welling chambers.

It is well accepted and specified by water authorities like Rand Water and other water boards.

Vanstone’s Segmental Valve Chambers are available in the standard sizes as shown below. This does not limit the range and other sizes can be manufactured to suit the application.

Technical Features

  • Chamber segments are 500mm high and can easily be handled by a light crane or TLB-type construction machine.
  • See heights for smaller chambers 600x600 and 1000x1000 below.
  • Segments have steps fitted (not for 600x600 size) and lifting holes on the outsides for easy hook-up. Horizontal joints are interlocking to ensure lateral stability.
  • Water resistance may be improved by using sealer strips in the joints between the units.
  • If required, units may be ordered flat-topped.
  • Roof Slabs complete with manholes of your choice, air vents and other equipment are available.
