OLD MANHOLE GALLERY

Replacement Gallery

Ill-fitting replacent. The edge of the cover is too thick for the standard frame that is still in place. The manhole cover protrudes the road surface by at least 30mm After dropping in Vanstone's 2A Cover. The asphalt is still in a poor condition but the manhole cover is flush with the road surface. Old standard type 2A cast iron frame clearly visible. After the old cover was stolen it was replaced with a makeshift cover that fits poorly. Vanstone's type 2A fits perfectly into a tradisional cast iron frame.

The cover was stolen and the manhole left open. It eventually filled up with debris rendering it useless as a manhole. A new Vanstone type 14B precast concrete replacement cover dropped in. Another example of a non-fit Vanstone Type 14B installed in an old standard frame.
